Eventry 03:18
Scotty said to call him on Tuesday But not until afternoon He's gonna try to find us something But he's already booked through June It's Sunday morning and my mouth tastes like an ashtray soaked in beer And it smells like something died in here Playing the Tommy Tucker Lounge To some jerks who gave us shit in school "Hey man, we didn't know you played, Dude, that's really cool" Well, if you feel like that, you can buy me a drink, 'coz we're only gettin' the door And you're not what I came here for Why why why even try? Dyin' all week long just for Saturday night Drove all the way to Portland Hit a blizzard at the state line Played to half a dozen die-hards Who drank themselves half blind Spent a whole week wrestling with this pen, Trying to get these words right... Why why why even try? Dyin' all week long just for Saturday night Why why why Independant record store, college radio And the guy at the Globe said he wants to catch our next show We can play Rockwood on Thursday But we've gotta go on at eight And we've gotta guarantee to draw forty Or we're not getting paid Why why why even try? Living all your life just for Saturday night Why why why Why why why Why why why Even try?

You should have seen me in my time I leapt tall buildings single bound Stronger than old Jack LaLanne Faster than the speed of sound All my better years Up and disappeared In the morning I'm all aches and pains Getting dressed I may well break my neck It's twenty minutes 'fore I see straight But I get in cheap at the multiplex All my better years Up and disappeared Wasn't twenty-one just yesterday They said it would fly by In the mirror the face I see's A stranger to my eyes If you had known me in my time Would you recognize me now That boy exists still in my mind Still faster than the speed of sound All my better years Up and disappeared All my better years Up and disappeared Hey hey! Hey hey!

There's a heart I cannot hide There's a beat I can't deny When it sings, when it lies When it cheats, when it bribes There's a war inside my core I hear it fight, I hear it roar Go ahead, go ahead Lay your head where it burns Even though it hurts Even though it scars Love me when it storms Love me when I fall Every time it breaks Every time its torn Love me like I'm not made of stone Love me like I'm not made of stone Devil's hand cross my heart As we dance through the dark Go ahead, go ahead Love me deep until you can't Even though it hurts Even though it scars Love me when it storms Love me when I fall Every time it breaks Every time its torn Love me like I'm not made of stone Love me like I'm not made of stone Love me all until it heats, Will you love me hard so I can heal Even though it hurts, baby, scars Love me when I fall Breaks, baby, it's torn baby Every storm Love me like I'm not made of stone Love me like I'm not made of stone

I don't wanna feel this anymore Don't wanna see this anymore Days never end, the night's even longer I look around and everything's wrong here I don't understand this anymore Don't understand this anymore All through your life you try to follow the rules But they change every day and you've been let out of school And every day I wonder, busy brain and thunder What it's gonna come to now Maybe it's time to I think it's time to It's time to go to ground And every day I wonder, busy brain and thunder What it's gonna come to now Maybe it's time to I think it's time to It's time to go to ground I don't wanna see it anymore Can't stand to see this anymore Children are bloodied, broken and torn Out on the town and in their own homes And I don't wanna see this anymore Don't understand it anymore Don't wanna feel this anymore

April Said 02:52
April said, no than you I'm flattered, but no thank you Don't call again No thank you, but no I'm not dressed for anyone But myself Not anyone I don't know Not anyone else April said just leave me April said believe me When I say don't touch me Don't stand and stare She don't care What you heard about her out there What you think about, she don't share Can't she just be? So please don't write Or send your picture Or assume all pretty girls are fools This is not something new April said Just leave me April said believe me You don't even know me So don't you say I'm being unfair April said just leave me Why won't you believe me When I say don't touch me Don't touch me there She said no She said no She said no She said STOP

Feel like I'm swimming upstream Struggling 'gainst some demon tide All the terrors come at night I wake up paralyzed The monsters we were told were fake Live in my bones Wo, every step we take We don't take alone No picture postcards, paperweights Don't need no souvenirs No handful of forget-me-nots Will make the timeline clear Some folks would rather want than have That's how they dance 'Coz when you have the things you want Those things lose their romance CHORUS And everybody's living at the top, wo oh Everybody's living at the top, hey now Everybody's living at the top Everyone gets their shot And the things that you do They come back on you And everybody's living at the top Until the music stops Dark cloud 'round my soul And still I tell myself it's fine My brains replaying memories That aren't even mine A box of letters stained with age Have been rearranged To tell a different story every day Still that shit turns out the same CHORUS Repeat Close you eyes and visualize the future that you seek Some mystic mumbo jumbo Meant to calm you, to disarm you Keep you pacified and weak Rainy days and Mondays Bring her up, don't get her down It's like summer vacation Any time that she's around I fell into the bluest eyes I've been synthesized Ever morning when I rise And she's still by my side CHORUS Repeat Hey yeah yeah Everybody's living at the top 'til the music stops, oh yeah eah eah eah Everybody's living at the top until the music... stops

I suppose we were young I suppose we were sincere We were desperate for love If that ain't the truth, it's pretty near I was grieving, I was lost A twist of fate and our paths crossed When you've got nothing it's so easy to believe We fell hard, we fell fast Felt so sure this love would last We were flying down that highway Riding high and low on gas But the signs were all wrong We should have seen it all along Forward motion swept us right into the ditch Break away, break away Took so long to break away And I find my take away's Poor compensation for all the years Well the signs were all wrong We should have seen it all along Forward motion drove us right into the ditch Break away, break away Took so long to break away And I find my take away's Poor compensation for all the tears Well the signs were all wrong We should have seen it all along Forward motion drove us right into the ditch Forward motion drove us right into the ditch Oh, forward motion drove us right into the ditch

There's a scrawny ginger hanging at the 7-11 Begging change on the sidewalk out front His mother went to Smith, and her son's eating bugs on a dare And there are rich kids fighting in the parking lot almost every night A Pontiac bench seat will do for a twin Down at the harbour there's a lover's lane And there's always one chick sounds like she's having a fit, And making a scene For all the hungry couples sweatin' in the dark Bar-hopping', pill-poppin' Burger joints and record shops And you can get a sweet deal on a vintage guitar 'Cross from the Cinnamon bar Old crazy Larry's ragin' down on the corner near railroad station, By the taxi stand And no ones really sure anymore if it's the booze or if it's Viet Nam And the cabbies all charge him double when his check come in Wo, Little Vincent's extra cheese stays open 'til midnight And if you want you can get Greek 'til ten And when the Paramount crowd gets really loud It sounds just like Times Square then And some frat boy's pukin' in the gutter On New York Avenue New York Avenue New York Avenue You'll wind up black and blue on New York Avenue New York Avenue New York Avenue It'll leave you black and blue

Tomorrow 02:40
If you walk along the river cattails swaying on a sunny day And you see those sheers shimmer, you know summer's on the way Oh, I don't think too much about what tomorrow's got in store I don't think much 'bout tomorrow anymore AIn't it crazy how the ocean follows you onto slide ground The waves against the shoreline whisper such a peaceful sound Oh, I don't think too much about what tomorrow's got in store I don't think much 'bout tomorrow anymore In my bed tonight In my head tonight I walk into the forest, see a pile of message stones I add our name to lovers left to gather in the loam Oh, I don't think too much about what tomorrow's got in store I don't think much 'bout tomorrow anymore I don't think much 'bout tomorrow anymore Anymore Anymore

Goodbye Mama 02:47
Was half asleep A midnight call came bringing thunder Set fire to out lives Shook the bedrock beneath our feet What can we do No place to hide, so deep within it So much on my mind Cheated out of their fare thee wells So goodbye mama, and Goodbye papa I guess its time to go How could we have known Oh wo, mama goodbye It's getting late Hold my hand, we'll go together The wind runs through my hair I pray I fly upon angels' wings So goodbye mama, and Goodbye papa I guess its time to go How could we have known Oh wo, mama goodbye So goodbye mama, and Goodbye papa I guess its time to go How could we have known Oh wo, mama goodbye Oh wo, mama goodbye Oh wo, mama goodbye

Someday Gina 04:09
Gina's wild, she's only sixteen, but she's got desperate dreams J comes 'round in his busted blue jeans and he reads of gasoline And they stay in whenever they can And he kisses her cheek and he holds her hand and says Someday Gina, we'll be married Someday Gina, we're gonna be happy Someday Gina, the night is still young Someday It's two weeks sine the line's been pink, there's thunder in her chest She shudders, sighs, looks in their eyes and says I'm pregnant, I guess Oh mommy please, you don't understand He kisses my cheek and he holds my hands and says Someday Gina, we'll be married Someday Gina, we're gonna be happy Someday Gina, the night is still young Someday We'll walk out in the rain tonight and wash our sins away I promise things won't seem as bad come the light of day Oh Gina don't you cry His love will never die But now you must decide Do you want him deep inside Do you want him now Now they get out whenever they can And he kisses her cheek and he holds her hand and says Someday Gina, we'll be married Someday Gina, we're gonna be happy Someday Gina, the night is still young Someday Someday Gina, we'll be married Someday Gina, we're gonna be happy Someday Gina, the night is still young Someday The night is still young, someday The night is still young, someday The night is still young, someday The night still is, the night is still young The night still is, the night is still young The night still is, the night is still young

about

So, you start to make an album and your only thoughts are to make it different from the last, and to make it as good as you can. Perhaps you have an idea for how you want it to sound (two guitars-bass-drums here), but even that doesn't always hold (strings on one tune, sitar on another, tubular bells on yet another, various percussive thingies appear here and there, etc.). But you write and resurrect some older tunes, and once the dust clears there is something unique to the moment; to 2020. I didn't set out to make a "current" record, or to sing about issues (well, maybe on one or two I did, but there was never an intended theme), and yet, here I find myself with an album I only could have made this year. I wrote and recorded the majority of the album between February and May, so there's that, too. My lockdown album, I suppose. The tunes are almost all upbeat, musically. Some humorous, some maybe not so much, but all, I hope, tuneful enough for ya to carry 'em around with ya for a bit. Hope ya dig!
